YES BF3 is finally here! Just finished installing it and all and even checked to make sure it runs (runs on HIGH setting AWWWW YEAHHHH). But alas, I am in the middle of exam week and cannot play right now :( But I might meet BF3 halfway and play after 305 exam on Monday XD Let’s be honest, I’m not gonna be studying ethics and law and how to be touchy-feely and mushy straight after an...

ONE DOWN
Had my first “exam” today! It was a clinical exam called an OSCE where we have to examine a patient and take a history and stuff. It’s worth 40% of our paper so pretty much the exam XD (the actual exam is only 25%). So today I had to:
Find the jugular venous pressure (JVP)
Palpate the spleen
Examine the lower limb reflexes
Take a history (asthma)
Measure blood pressure

Tetanus
Tetanus is an infectious disease caused by a soil-borne bacteria called Clostridium tetani. Patients are often infected soil entering the blood through deep wounds, such as a cut. Baggage
Dear young one. The journey of life is a long and tedious one, so take a look inside your bag.
Greed will weigh you down while hope will make your footsteps lighter.
If you do not throw out the wants and desires from your bag while you are young, not keeping only a bag full of hope, then you will surely fall before climbing even one hill.

Direction
Most of mankind’s major expeditions happened from east to west. Since the beginning of man’s history, people have wondered where the giant fireball set at the end of the day and followed the journey of the sun. Odysseus, Christopher Columbus and Attila the Hun all believed the answer lied in the west. To journey to the west - that was a quest to know the future.
Contrary to the people...

Language
If one was, for some twisted and malicious reason, wished to systematically destroy a culture, what would the first step be? Genocide? Brainwashing? The answer is destroying the native language.
Language is the skeleton that supports the culture of the people. It is an integral part of every culture that allows for effective communication of ideas and thoughts. Each language is tailor-made for a...

Mermaid
You are alone on an uninhabited island. Which mermaid would you choose as your companion? Classic mermaid - top-half woman, bottom-half fish - or inverted mermaid - top-half fish, bottom-half woman?
In 1934, abstract artist René Magritte painted Collective Invention - a play on the idea of a mermaid. This mermaid has the lower-body of a woman and the upper-body of a fish. Despite having...

Charging...
Happiness battery recharged! Thanks to heaps of TV shows, hours of guitar playing, a sandwich (proven happy food) and encouraging text from friend. 4 hours of sleep, too much of study and an annoying thing had my energy level straight down this morning but now I’m all good. Have to say, all I had to do was think of Barney’s wise words:
“When I get sad, I stop being sad and be...

Clown
Excerpt from Rorschach’s journal, October 16th, 1985
“…Heard a joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he’s depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain.
Doctor says “Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up.”

Golden Ratio
The golden ratio is a magical number that divides a line into the most beautiful ratio. It bestows a mystical power in an object and allows for the creation of excellent architecture and art. This magical ratio is (1 + √5)/2, or 1.618033988. If there is a line divided by the golden ratio called a + b, then b:a and a:(a + b) are both the same ratio.
We can find the golden ratio in countless values...

Tie
One challenge a man faces as he grows up is tying a tie. A well-tied tie not only looks good, but also shows that you are a highly organised and proper man. The following instructions describe how to tie the Windsor knot.
Drape the tie around your neck so that the wide end is on the right. Align it so the narrow end is shorter than the broad end.
Cross the wide end over the front of the narrow...

This is why I always keep pen and paper ready on the desk next to my bed. So if I do think of something brilliant and somehow have enough willpower to write something down, it is not lost in dreams.
Haha yeah, I’ve had a few incidents of jumping out of bed before falling asleep and writing up ideas for Encyclopaedia XD You need to facebook...

Hypnagogia
Every person has had the experience of having a few seconds of brilliance just before their consciousness slips into sleep. During this short moment, we have some of the most creative and innovative ideas. Unfortunately, this is all lost by the time we wake up. This state is known as the hypnagogic state and has been well known since ancient Greece. Many philosophers and writers such as Aristotle...

Hedgehog's Dilemma
Imagine two hedgehogs in the middle of winter. Even though they wish to huddle together to keep warm, they must keep distance to not become stabbed by the other hedgehog. There is no way they can avoid hurting each other without keeping their distance. Although both hedgehogs badly want to be close and intimate, they cannot. Therefore, the hedgehogs sacrifice the potential warmth for their own...

Early Bird
According to a proverb, the early bird gets the worm. This means that people who wake up early to start working, grabbing opportunities as early as possible will ultimately be more successful than the lazy people waking up later. But is this necessarily true?
To wake up early and get enough sleep to function, an early bird must naturally sleep earlier than night owls. However, this also means...
